A mother accused of trying to cure her daughter's autism using a product discredited as little more than bleach was arrested last week in Indianapolis, according to police.
A report says the 28-year-old mother put drops of hydrochloric acid and a water-purifying solution in the young girl's drinks. Marketed as Miracle Mineral Solution, the combination of chemicals essentially becomes bleach.

The woman's husband, who alerted the police, says she learned about it in a Facebook group. While dismissed by the FDA, which warned against using MMS in 2010, the solution claims to cure a host of serious conditions and diseases, including cancer, hepatitis and AIDS.
The child has been removed from the home by child services, the report says.
“Taking things into their own hands is something that many parents have done out of desperation, out of hope,” Sherry Quinn, president and founder of the Applied Behavioral Center for Autism, told Indianapolis' Fox 59.
Quinn reminded parents that autism has no "cure."
“It’s a diagnosis that’s going to stay with them," she said. "The goal is how can we make them more independent, how can we make them the most successful they can be with that diagnosis."
